I have lived in Hitchin since I was 11 and am a single parent to three children. My daughters have Special Educational Needs, giving me a strong personal understanding of the importance of inclusion and ensuring every child has the opportunity to achieve their potential.
I worked as a primary school teacher for Hertfordshire County Council for over 20 years. Since leaving teaching, I have continued to use my experience as a Parent Representative and Director for Herts Parent Carer Involvement (HPCI), Hertfordshire’s Parent Carer Forum, and as a School Appeals Panel Member. I have also been a parent governor throughout my children’s education.
My older daughter is currently a pupil at The Priory School, making my role as a governor particularly meaningful. I enjoy being a supportive but challenging governor and keeping pupils at the heart of what we do.
Outside of school, I enjoy reading, going to the theatre and cinema, and socialising with family and friends.
